The work utilises speculative fiction to approach post-colonial critique of the ethnological collections of European museums, compiling a fantastical narrative around space exploration, religious fetish objects, a sleep experiment, and an out-of-body experience. The conceptual starting point for the novella was the work of French caver and chronobiologist Michel Siffre. The cover design and typographical layout design for Vortices was by ︎︎︎Moritz Grünke
